So, maybe about 2 weeks ago I drove Mark's car to the gym, since my car had a tire issue and couldn't go on the interstate at the time. His car was a 99 Accord that we got before we got married in 2004 and had about 141K miles on it. He had been driving it back and forth to Bradenton for work, much to my displeasure. The check engine light was on, it needed new tires and a decent amount of maintenance work in the near future to keep it running. The steering wheel vibrated substantially and it was in desperate need of an alignment. Until I drove it on the interstate, I didn't realize just how much we needed a new car. With 12-year old safety features and no side air bags, I was afraid to have Mark continue driving it down to Bradenton, 25 miles each way. In February, I witnessed a car accident where a driver pulled out right in front of another car that was going about 45mph, and got T-boned. Being a nurse and all, I hobbled my pregnant self over to make sure she was ok. The car looked totaled, but the driver of that car was FINE. Side air bags are awesome!

I haven't gone to work in almost 4 months. That's a third of a year, people! Sadly, this week is my last week that I get to stay home with my girl. I can't believe how fast these last 2 months have flown by - if only my pregnancy could have gone this fast! Lily turned 2 months old yesterday and they have been the best 2 months of my life.

I am not exactly looking forward to going back to work. This is the longest I've not worked since I started my job six years ago, and there have been a few changes at work since I've been gone, so I'll have a little adjusting to do. I love staying home with my baby, and I don't know how I am supposed to leave her for 13 hours a day, 3 days a week. I feel like I will miss so much. Unfortunately, we have a mortgage and now we have 2 car payments, so not working will never be an option for me, unless we win the lottery. I need to start buying some tickets.

First Mother's Day
May 8th was an awesome day for me because it was my first Mother's Day. I still was in somewhat disbelief that I actually had my baby so this day was just incredible for me. I got to sleep in and I woke up to flowers, presents and breakfast cooked by my wonderful husband. We hung out for a bit and then got ready to go out to dinner downtown with my family. The weather was great and we sat outside and had a nice, long meal at a great restaurant, where I had my first white Russian in almost a year! We got home and had a minor freak-out though, as we realized that the flowers Mark bought for me are super poisonous to cats. So, I took a picture of them and they got thrown out. Mark went to bed early, and then I spent several hours taking pictures with Lily, using my tripod and remote for some of them. I'm high-tech!

Hot Mess
So I decided I felt well enough to go home about 2 days after my surgery. Besides sleep deprivation, I had been feeling pretty awesome and I thought I was ready to take my baby home.
The weather was terrible that day - there were even some tornadoes in the area, so we went home and I didn't send anyone out to get my percocet script filled. I thought I would be fine with the vicodin I had leftover at home. The first night home was definitely an experience. We were both so sleep deprived at that point but at first I was totally afraid to go to sleep. We got a little more confident after each feeding and finally did get a little sleep. My dad called around 11am and I remember being so mad that he called and woke us up. Physically, I was feeling really bad at this point and I had taken quite a bit of vicodin and motrin, but it didn't seem to be doing anything. Usually after a c-section, your second day is supposed to be your "worst day", and I remember thinking that I must be an exception because my bad day was day 4.

Unbelievable
I can't believe it's the middle of May.
I can't believe how crazy my delivery ended up being.
I still can't believe my pregnancy resulted in a the birth of the most awesome baby ever.
I have some catching up to do!

2 days after my last post here, I went to my weekly OB appointment. First, we went for an ultrasound to check on Lily's status. She got measured for the first time in a month and was estimated to be about 7 and a half pounds. Then I saw my doctor and we talked induction and I said, "get her out". Before I ever got pregnant, I was totally anti-induction and wanted to try for a med-free natural birth. But now with my history of losses and my anxiety about 3rd trimester stillbirth, plus the fact that my pregnancy was high-risk, I just did not trust my body to keep her safe for much longer. I needed her out. Less than 30 minutes after I left my appointment, someone from the office called back and said my induction would start at 8pm on March 27th - 12 days away, at 39 weeks. It felt totally surreal to have an official end date in sight, but I still think I was in some kind of denial or somewhat detached that this was actually finally happening. I somehow survived those 12 days doing pretty mundane activities - I had a few more doctor's appointments and we took the dog to the vet. On the 26th, my mom and I went to the Aveda Institute to get pedicures, and then went to Target. Since I was gigantically pregnant, that exhausted me and I went to bed relatively early that night, so I woke up at 10am on the 27th. We spent the day packing and getting the house ready for us to leave. I had the St. Pete Grand Prix on TV in the background, and since it was happening only a few miles away, we could hear the cars racing if we listened closely. Around 6:30 we were packed and the dogs were on their way to my parents' house via my brother, and we headed down there too to grab dinner with them before heading to the hospital. I knew that would be my last meal pre-baby. Dinner took forever even though the restaurant was empty. It took almost an hour to get our food and I was finally getting anxious about this whole process. And by then it was 8pm and I was late.

Nesting
I have been bad about updating!! I've also been really bad about my Project 365...thing. There are only so many things in my house that are even remotely interesting enough to take pictures of, and I'm really not supposed to drive anywhere, sooo...yeah. I did just get a new lens though, so there will be more pictures of random stuff soon!
Anyway, what have I been doing? I don't even really know. I'm not working and the time is kind of flying by. I am now 37 weeks - full term! Hopefully this baby has her tray table up and is preparing for landing. I still have weekly OB appointments with a biophysical profile (ultrasound) at each appointment. On Tuesday, they'll measure her again. It's been 4 weeks since she was last measured, and I'm guessing she's probably about 6.5 pounds right now. My doctor is going away for a week after this week...so I'm guessing that is when this baby will decide to make her grand entrance.
One thing I have been doing is working on her room. Even though she'll be sleeping in our room at night, I've wanted to have her room ready for naps and playtime. Plus we needed a place to put all of her stuff! I'd say it's about 80% complete at this point.
Here is the fun part:
The curtains were custom made by moi. This is the third edition of curtains for her room. The first ones were way too pink and immediately were returned to Target. The second set came from ebay, and I hemmed them and decided they really didn't "go" with the room. I'll have to make pillow cases or something with that fabric now. And this third set is actually pink sheer curtains from ebay over white sailcloth panels from Target that I sewed together.
So, that is basically what I've been up to. I'm sure it's some kind of nesting behavior. I've heard some people scrub their floors on their hands and knees - I can guarantee that will not be happening here! Instead, now I'm working on getting all the laundry done, and getting our room cleaned and organized. I want a new quilt or comforter for our bed...I know people will be seeing our room since she'll be in here and I want it to look nice. I'm sure that is some kind of nesting thing too.

We got our stroller (thanks, Mom!) and it is a-mazing. It's a Britax B-Ready, and we got the bassinet for free! Can't wait to take her places! We will soon be stroller people at Disney!
Both cats are somewhat obsessed with the room and attempt to gain access whenever someone goes in.
Cloth diapers! I have more...need to prep them still. Waiting for the others to come in the mail so I can do them all at once. Now that I have my awesome dryer, I'm super excited about cloth diapering again!

Bought a new dryer yesterday. Now I can actually get laundry done! Our old one was taking forever and a day to dry stuff, to the point where we could not keep up with our laundry mountain. Since we'll be using cloth diapers, and also washing baby clothes, we needed something more efficient. We found a slightly damaged Samsung steam dryer at Lowe's for 50% off. They delivered it today and so far, so good! I may actually be able to turn the mountain into a molehill!
Not going back to work til after I have the baby. Foot doctor wants me to have physical therapy three times a week! We'll see how long that lasts. Meanwhile, the pregnancy edema has started, and of course my injured foot is severely angered. +3 on the left, +1 on the right. Gross. My hands are swollen too and I had to pry my wedding ring off before I cut off the circulation in my finger. I ordered a cheap blingy replacement on eBay several ring sizes bigger. My finger doesn't like being naked.
